Matching Shopify products

Tell us which of your products each Shopify variant is, so every order ships the right item.

Your Shopify store and your Merch.com account each have their own list of products. Matching tells us that a variant in Shopify, say a medium black hoodie, is a specific product we hold for you. Get it right once and every future order for that variant ships the right item.

#Where to do it

Open the store in Settings → Stores and go to the Products tab. You see the Shopify variants the store has sent us, next to the Merch.com product each one is matched to.

#How a variant gets matched

Each match shows where it came from:

  • Matched by SKU. The variant's SKU in Shopify is the same as the SKU on one of your products, so we matched it automatically. This is the easiest way to keep things tidy.
  • Matched by hand. Someone on your team picked the product and variant.
  • Matched by the store. The store sent the match itself.

#Matching a variant by hand

  1. Filter to unmatched variants.
  2. Pick a variant, then search for the product and choose the right variant of it.
  3. Save. The next order for that variant ships as that product.

If you remove a hand match, orders for that variant fall back to matching by SKU.

#When there is nothing to match

If the tab is empty, the store has not sent us anything to match yet. Variants appear as orders come in, and the unmatched filter reads Nothing unmatched once every variant is covered.
